The Benfica player Tomás Araújo the December Liga 2 Defender of the Month award, after collecting 14.81% of the votes from the coaches of the competing teams.

The 19-year-old central defenders, one of the member of Benfica's first team, beat Rocha, from GD Chaves, with 14,07% of the votes, and Leonardo Lelo, from Casa Pia, who gathered 10,37% of the votes.

"I am very happy! It's an individual award that clearly reflects the team's collective work in a month. We ended the year in a not so positive way, the beginning wasn't either, but with the team's work we will turn it around and make history in the rest of the year", he said.
