THE REVELATIONS OF THE FULL-BACK

Tomás Alves Oliveira, a 14-year-old full-back (28.08.2007), signed a youth development contract with Sport Lisboa e Benfica. 

In 2021/2022, he has featured 13 matches and scored one goal in the U-15 National Championship and has also carried out two matches in the U-17 Extraordinary Tournament.

Tomás Oliveira has two caps with the Portuguese U-15 national team.

Benfica fought until the end for a different outcome in the last 16 of the Club World Cup, but after extra time they fell to Chelsea (1-4), thus ending their journey in the first edition of the competition in the United States of America. In a game that was interrupted in the 86th minute due to the threat of a thunderstorm and ended almost five hours after the kick-off, Di María leveled the score at 90'+5' (1-1), taking the match into 30 minutes of extra time, during which time the result hung in the balance for the English at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
