DARWIN'S STATEMENTS

Darwin, the Sport Lisboa e Benfica forward, received this Tuesday, at the Benfica Campus, the Cosme Damião award for the category of Footballer of the Year recently won by choice of the Benfiquistas.

The 22-year-old Uruguayan international is having an exciting season, scoring 25 goals in 31 official games, and is the top scorer in the Liga Bwin, with 20 goals in 21 matches. 

"I am very happy to receive this award. I am very proud to be part of Benfica and very happy to win this award, which is not only mine but also for the whole team. I would like to thank Rafa, Odysseas, Vertonghen, Nico [Otamendi], who were also nominated. I feel proud to win it. This award is also partly theirs. I would like to thank my girlfriend and my family for all the support they always give me. Benfica's motto is 'Et Pluribus Unum, and now it's time to move on. I would also like to thank the fans for voting for me. Thank you ", claimed Darwin.
