"The significance of this award is the commitment of the team"

Darwin's 25th goal in this edition of the Liga Bwin launched Benfica to victory in the derby of the matchday 30! Besides opening the scoring in Sporting's home ground, the Glorioso's number 9 also made the pass for the 0-2 (scored by Gil Dias) and was named the "Man of the Match".

"The significance of this award is the team's commitment during the 90 minutes plus seven minutes of added time given by the refereeing team. It is always difficult to play against a rival, we did a good job and now we will enjoy and rest for the next match. More important than me scoring goals is the team winning and taking the three points home", commented Darwin to Sport TV. 

The Uruguayan international's goal, in the 14th minute, was the result of an excellent combination with Vertonghen.

"We practice that play every day. It was a great ball, and then to fight against Coates, another Uruguayan, was very difficult, because he is very big and strong, but fortunately I kept the ball and scored the goal", recalled the footballer.

"We know that it is not easy to reach the second place, but we will do our job and prepare for the next match", finished Darwin.
