Women's Champions League Cup

Benfica will kick off its UEFA Women's Champions League 2022/23 against Hajvalia from Kosovo on August 18.

Winning this match, the Reds will take on the winner of FC Twente-Agarista CSF Anenii Noi 2020, in the route to qualifying for Round 2, a tie that will be played in two legs.

In 2022/23, Round 1 of the women's Champions League is, as UEFA explains on its official website, one of two qualifying rounds before the new 16-team group stage, which starts in October. It will be divided into two routes: champions path and league path. On both paths, Round 1 will consist of two stages, each with a single game: semi-finals (August 18) and finals/third place match (August 21). The winners of each final (11 on the champions path, four on the leagues path) advance to Round 2.

Luis Batista

The team manager of the women's football team, Luís Batista, commented on the result of the draw.

"We only know FC Twente, an opponent we faced last season in Round 2. We go with ambition and in the unknown, but the goal is clear! It was a draw that dictated a seeded team [ in group 8 of Round 1] that we know, knowing that, going through, we will have a competitive final", he claimed in statements to BTV.
