João Victor joins Benfica!

The center-back João Victor (23 years old) is the new signing of the professional football team of Sport Lisboa e Benfica. The Brazilian player has signed a five-year contract (until 2027), this Thursday afternoon, July 7. 

"It was an exhausting day; I arrived and went to complete the medicals. I was able to get to know the Stadium [da Luz], a fantastic Stadium where I’ll be very happy, for sure. I’m very happy to sign my first contract in Europe, I know I’m going to make History at the club and win many titles", said João Victor, to BTV.

Walking by the stands, contemplating the Cathedral, João Victor felt a "very good energy"...

"I felt a very good energy. I spoke to the President Rui Costa, and he told me that the Stadium is almost always full. I only can give my life for the Club, and I think it’s going to be a unique feeling", he declared.

At the age of 23, the Brazilian will face his first experience away from Brazil and explained the reason why he chose the eagles.

"They gave me lots of confidence and that’s the reason why I chose the best Portuguese Club", he underlined and added: "I’m excited. I don’t feel any pressure because I’ve worked a lot to be here. I’ll try to adapt as soon as possible. I think the Portuguese League will turn out well for me."

After showing off at Atlético Goianiense – loaned by Corinthians –, João Victor marked his position at the paulista club. In the last two seasons he played 76 games".

"I arrive at Benfica in the best moment of my career. It’s something significant for me and I know I’ll meet the expectations", assured the center-back.

At Benfica, he will play with number 38, a decision full of symbolism…

"I’m ready to help Benfica to win national titles once again. My jersey number, 38, is to celebrate the 38^th title that Benfica might win. I decided it on purpose", he revealed.
