Cape Verde National Team
With one win and one defeat in group C, against Nigeria and Tunisia, respectively, the team led by Ljubomir Obradovic advanced to the quarterfinals, where it beat Angola by 23-24 and guaranteed its presence in the 2023 World Cup.
For the first time in the semi-finals of a continental competition, the blue sharks got the better of Morocco (victory by 23-19) with Leandro Semedo in evidence. The new addition to Benfica's left side was voted man of the match and was even chosen for the best team of the competition.
In the final, Cape Verde lost against Egypt, current trophy holder and host country, by 37-25.
