Pedro Pichardo

With an excellent performance, Pedro Pichardo, Benfica's athlete, qualified for the final of the Triple Jump at the World Athletics Championships, being held in Oregon (USA).

The Portuguese achieved qualification for the decisive phase in the very first - and only - jump, with a mark of 17.16 meters (the minimum was 17.05 meters) on the track at Hayward Field Stadium.

Leandro Ramos

LEANDRO RAMOS, FIRST PORTUGUESE JAVELIN THROWER IN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, MISSES FINAL

In his World Championships debut, Leandro Ramos, the Benfica thrower, missed the access to the final of the javelin throw, he who was the first Portuguese to do so in the competition.

However, his mark of 77.34 meters was insufficient to guarantee a place in the final, and he finished in 22nd place in the qualifying round.
