Fernando Pimenta, athlete of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, won this Saturday, August 20, the silver medal in K1 1000 meters at the European Championships in Munich, Germany.

After the bronze medal won yesterday, Friday, in K1 500 meters, Fernando Pimenta secured the silver medal this Saturday, in K1 1000 meters.

The Portuguese athlete was only beaten by the Hungarian Balint Kopasz with 3:29.898 minutes. Fernando Pimenta came after with 3:31.964 minutes and became European vice-champion. This is 120th international medal! The Belgian Artuur Peters (3:32.401) was third positioned.

Before and after the match from matchday 21 of the Liga BPI, against Clube de Albergaria (5-0), the women's football team of Benfica was showered with crowds while celebrating their 5th league in a row. The afternoon began with an autograph session attended by hundreds of fans and, at the end of the game, there was time to lift the trophy and take it to the central stand of Benfica Campus Field No. 1, in a celebration in total communion with the fans.
