Paris Saint-Germain (France), Juventus (Italy) and Maccabi Haifa (Israel) will be the opponents in Group H of the Champions League 2022/23. Simão Sabrosa, Director of International Relations, attended the UEFA ceremony this Thursday, August 25, and commented the draw.

"It’s a high-quality group, which guarantees six exciting matches. Juventus is a club with great history in European Football, PSG also pursues the European goal in the last years, with a squad full of tremendous players, and Maccabi Haifa is the champion from Israel. It will be a tough group, but we will keep our goal to go beyond the group stage", analyzed Simão Sabrosa, to BTV.

"We did a brilliant qualification, played at a Champions League level, with great quality, and that’s the quality we want to showcase in the Group Stage", added Simão Sabrosa, reminding that the focus is already on Saturday’s clash, at Estádio do Bessa, in Matchday 4 of the Liga Bwin.

"The most important message is that our first goal is just around the corner, next Saturday, against Boavista. I know that our team is already focused on that match".

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
