Benfica is the team that concedes the fewest shots per game this season among the teams in the UEFA Top 10 Leagues! The average of 5.31 shots allowed in the 13 games played translates to the defensive solidity that Roger Schmidt's men show in 2022/23.

Focusing the attention on the Liga Bwin, we see that Benfica shares the status of the best defender with Casa Pia, having conceded only three goals in the competition.

In the major European Leagues, teams such as Barcelona (one goal) or Villarreal (two goals) even have a better record, however, considering all the competitions in which the teams from the 10 best UEFA ranked Championships participated, we see that Benfica is the one that allows the fewest shots, on average, per match.

Only 39.2% of the 5.31 shots allowed per game by Benfica were on target

With 5,31 shots allowed (only 39,2% were on target), according to data from the Wyscout platform, the Eagles see Manchester City (with 6.6 shots and 30.3% on target) and Arsenal (6.75/42.7%) as those with the closest records. They are followed by Barcelona (7/35.7%), Celtic (7/37.1%) and AZ Alkmaar (7.4/33.4%).

In the Liga Bwin, for example, Benfica has only allowed 28 attempts, an average of 3,61 per match. The Reds have only conceded six goals in 13 official matches and have kept eight clean sheets.

With an average of 85,08 ball recoveries per game (against the opponent's 77,85) and 211,3 duels (49,8% won per match), Benfica shows its brilliance when it comes to defending in other essential parameters.

The eagles took part in 70,82 defensive duels per match, having won 65,2% of those duels, while they participated in 30,08 aerial duels and had a success rate of 48,1%.

It should be noted that the encounter against Juventus, for matchday 2 of group H of Champions League, was the match in which Benfica carried out the most aerial duels (47), having won 22 (46,8%).

The eagles have an average of 36,62 interceptions and 11,08 fouls committed per game.
