Roger Schmidt: "Players had a great mentality"

A draw at the Parc des Princes (1-1) against Paris Saint-Germain left Benfica very well positioned to reach the round of 16 of the Champions League. Roger Schmidt analyzed the game from matchday 4 of group H. 

A LOT OF PRIDE AND HAPPINESS FOR THE DISPLAY

"I feel proud, of course. All the players are playing, especially in these difficult games and when we are down, with a lot of belief. We never gave up; we played good football and we managed to get back into the game. That makes me proud and happy because the players had a great mentality. The two matches we played against PSG say a lot about our team."

A DRAW IS FAIR

"We had a few moments in the game where we could have created clear scoring chances. We didn't have that many, but neither did PSG, because both teams defended well. Of course we could have scored the second goal, but a draw is the fair result."

JOÃO MÁRIO IS A KEY PLAYER

"João Mário is a top player, with a lot of quality, experience, with a great attitude, he is a leader and a key player for our team. He has huge responsibility, with and without the ball. He and Otamendi lead and guide the team. I hope he continues at this level."
