Florentino, a midfielder of Sport Lisboa e Benfica's professional football team, has renewed his contract with the club for five seasons, until 2027.

He arrived at Luz in the 2010/11 season and made all his formative years at the Reds, from the U-11s to the B team. After winning the national title with the U-15s and the U-19s, Florentino made his official debut with the first team on February, 10, 2019, in a 10-0 win over, coming on at 62' to replace Andreas Samaris. He would win the championship title, months later, and the Super Cup, at the beginning of the following season.

In a maturing process, the Benfica midfielder was on loan the last two seasons (Getafe and Monaco), returning this season to his home, where he has been a frequent choice of Roger Schmidt.

"It is a vote of confidence given to me. I see this with a lot of responsibility, and I can promise the Benfiquistas that I will give my maximum as I have given until now. I am very happy with this renewal", explained Florentino.

With his feet firmly on the ground, the 23-year-old player keeps his focus and his thoughts are on the present. The initial expectations of the return have been met, but there is still a lot to do.

"We have been playing good games, and at the beginning of the season I said that we wanted to have a good start and I wanted to have a good season, but we have to look step by step because no goal is complete, the focus now is on tomorrow's match [Saturday, October 15] against Caldas", revealed the Benfica midfielder, who will continue to wear the eagle on his chest.
