Roger Schmidt: "We showed a very good attitude"

Roger Schmidt analyzed Benfica's victory over Chaves (5-0), this Saturday, October 29, at Estádio da Luz, on matchday 11 of the Liga Bwin. 

GREAT DISPLAY AFTER A CHAMPIONS NIGHT

"It was a top performance, with a top attitude from the players. It was a great response after the great match on Tuesday [against Juventus]. The team did very well, scored good goals, created several chances, and finished with a clean sheet. It was a good day for us. I have a lot of respect for the players. It's not easy to play like this after a Champions League match. We showed a very good attitude."

OUTSTANDING GRIMALDO

"It's not only today. In my opinion, he has been playing all season at a very high level, especially this last week, against FC Porto, Juventus, and today [Chaves]. He has been making extraordinary displays, filled with class. Both defending and attacking, he is a reliable player. Excellent with the ball, without the ball, he has a great mentality, is physically strong, and is very important for us. It's a pleasure to have him on our team."

ADVANTAGE IN THE LIGA BWIN

"I was focused on training the players and instilling the spirit to play a certain type of football. That was my focus. I gained experience and got to know other teams in the Portuguese League and there is a lot of quality both in the teams and the coaches. They are organized, play tactical football, and it is always difficult to win games. I didn't think about whether it would be possible to have 31 points in 11 games, or anything like that. I focus on each game."

"The fans dream of this, and we have done our best to make them happy and proud of the Club. There are many people in Lisbon, in Portugal, and in the world who are very enthusiastic about the Club. We are working hard between games and in games to make them happy, playing good football, but also to win titles. That is our goal. If we continue at this level, we have the possibility to do it. If we play well and as a team, we have the quality to be champions."
