Benfica trashed Desportivo de Chaves by 5-0 on matchday 11 of the Liga Bwin.
29 October 2022, 21h35
The team celebrates the first goal of the match
Roger Schmidt made only one change in the starting XI, compared to the squad used in the last Tuesday's triumph over Juventus. Neres returned to the starting lineup and Florentino stayed on the bench.
The start was imperial, and Benfica opened the scoring at 2'. Neres, a few good meters from the penalty area, dribbled into the central corridor and buried the ball in the back of the net with his left foot.
A devilish intense and exquisite Benfica, who didn't need much time to score again. At 8' Rafa was fouled on the edge of the box. Grimaldo extended the lead to 2-0, with a perfectly taken free kick. The fullback would be considered the "Man of the Match" in the end.
After 37 minutes, Neres launched Aursnes on the right and he crossed for Gonçalo Ramos to make it 3-0. The Benfica striker scored one more for Benfica in the match and the seventh in his personal account in the Portuguese League. The number 88 leads the list of top scorers in the Championship.

At half-time, 3-0 for Benfica, who scored for the sixth time this season three goals in the first half.
After 81 minutes, Enzo, in another great play, assisted Musa for the 4-0 at Estádio da Luz. The third goal of the forward with the Glorioso's jersey, the second in the League this season.
At 90'+3', Rafa didn't waste the opportunity created by Gilberto's shot against the crossbar and scored the 5-0 with a header. Ten goals from Rafa this season and his third consecutive game scoring!
For the team, it is 21 games without a loss this season, matching the record of Benfica coached by Sven-Göran Eriksson in 1982/83, and the top spot in the Liga Bwin after 11 matches with 31 points. The Reds play again next Wednesday, in Israel, where they will face Maccabi Haifa on matchday 6 of the Champions League group stage.
