The draw held in the Cidade do Futebol, this Monday, November 14, determined that Benfica will face Varzim away from home in the round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup. The games of this knockout round are scheduled for January 10, 11 and 12.

Benfica and Varzim will face for the 3rd time in the Portuguese Cup. The eagles opponent sits 1st in A Series of Liga 3. They have 18 points from five wins, three draws, and one defeat in the nine matches played so far.

In this edition of the Portuguese Cup, Varzim saw off Vila Meã (2-1, after extra-time), Feirense (1-0), Sporting (1-0) and São João de Ver (1-0).

The quarter and semi-final pairings of the competition were also drawn. Thus, eliminating Varzim, Benfica will meet in the quarterfinals, away from home, between February 7 and 9, the winner of Braga-Vitória de Guimarães.

If they stay in the competition, the eagles, in the semi-finals, may face the winner of the Vitória de Setúbal-Casa Pia/Nacional-Rabo de Peixe pairing. The first leg is scheduled for April 25 to 27, and the 2nd leg between May 2 and 4. The final will be on June 4.
