Fernando Tavares and Fernando Paixão
Present at the protocol formalization, Fernando Tavares, Benfica's vice-president, explained the partnership's objective.
"We need good, competitive and quality projects. Benfica will give a technical collaboration and GS Loures will develop its project, without losing its identity", he highlighted.
"Benfica is committed to invest in women's football and to improve its competitive context. In that sense, we closed this protocol with GS Loures. This is an important urban network on the outskirts of the city of Lisbon, where the potential for the development of women's football is huge", added Fernando Tavares.
Fernando Paixão, vice-president of Grupo Sportivo de Loures, highlighted the importance of the agreement in making the club more dynamic.
"The signing of this technical protocol will allow us to gain a greater number of athletes in the context of women's football, which is something the club didn't have and will now have. Loures is a huge municipality and, being this club its biggest representative, I think that all the conditions are in place for us to have a bright future", he praised.
Pauleta, a player from Benfica's women's football team, was also present at the ceremony.
It is very good for us as athletes. Besides playing, we want other teams to evolve and invest in women's football. We have the feeling that we can all help this growth", she finished.
