It's a homecoming! Nurtured at Sport Lisboa e Benfica, forward Gonçalo Guedes, 26 years old, bolsters the professional football team until the end of the 2022/23 season, on loan from Wolverhampton.

"It is an immense happiness to return home, to the place where I grew up. I am very happy, and I hope that all Benfiquistas are too. This, for me, is very important, coming home is always very good", said Guedes, in his first word after rejoining Benfica.

"It is a huge happiness, I still can't describe the happiness I am feeling. Being able to return to the club where I was born, where I did all my training, being with my family, with my friends... it is a unique feeling and I and I want to make the most of this moment", stressed the new number 15.

100 PERCENT "MADE IN BENFICA"

Gonçalo Guedes Played in all youth ranks of the Club, and it was in the 2014/15, that he had the opportunity to make is first team debut, in a match of the Portuguese Cup desafio played away against SC Covilhã. It was on November 18, 2014. In that season, Gonçalo Guedes made 9 appearances in his debut year at the senior level and contributed for the first national title of the four-time national titles cycle.

Guedes' status in Sport Lisboa e Benfica's first team grew stronger in the following season, 2015/16, when he played 31 matches and scored four goals. In first semester of 2 2016/17, he played 28 matches and scored 7 goals. In January 2017 he became the most valuable Under-21 player in Europe and transferredto PSG.

The spell in France was followed by five intense seasons in Spain, at Valencia (2017/18 to 2021/22). He joined the English Premier League through Wolverhampton in the 2022/23 off-season. Now, Guedes returns home full of ambition and determination!
