Benfica beat Santa Clara, by 0-3, on matchday 17 of the Liga Bwin.
21 January 2023, 21h35
Benfica celebrates at Estádio de São Miguel
Without Otamendi and Rafa, compared to the last eleven, in the derby, the eagles stepped on the pitch of Estádio de São Miguel with Odysseas, Bah, António Silva, Morato, Grimaldo, Florentino, Enzo, Aursnes, João Mário, Draxler and Gonçalo Ramos.
Minute 9, first opportunity... and goal! Build up on the right, with Draxler and João Mário in the play lance, the ball reached Grimaldo on the left. A perfect cross from Enzo and a powerful header from Aursnes. 0-1 for Benfica, the midfilder's firts goal in the Liga Bwin.
In the 16th minute, a perfect combination between Enzo, Grimaldo and Gonçalo Ramos, with the eagles' number 88 beating goalkeeper Gabriel Batista and putting the ball in the back of the net. 0-2 for the Glorioso and the 12th goal from the top scorer of the Liga Bwin!
0-2 at half-time. A fair result, but short when considering Benfica's high quality display.

At 64', Florentino, Aursnes and João Mário came off and were replaced by Chiquinho, Neres and Guedes... to the applause from the stands greeting the Portuguese forward's homecoming.
And the response didn't take long... First, it was Neres, served by Grimaldo, in an excellent position, to miss the target; then... the most perfect homecoming one could imagine! In the 80th minute, Guedes received a pass from Enzo, lifted his head, believed, set his sights on the target, and shot in the box to make it 0-3.
Final whistle and victory, by 0-3, a fair result of a cohesive, convincing, intense and classy display, which allows the Glorioso to close the 1st half of the competition in the sole leadership, with 44 points.
Benfica plays again on Thursday, January 26, in a trip to Mata Real to face Paços de Ferreira. This match, from gameweek 20 of the Liga Bwin, is scheduled for 8:15 pm.
