In the minute 11th of the match at the Estádio Capital do Móvel, João Mário made the most of an incomplete save by Marafona (to Aursnes' shot) and put the ball in the back of the net, scoring the 0-2 for Benfica in the visit to Paços de Ferreira in the game from matchday 20 of the Liga Bwin. With his 8th goal in the competition, the number 20 made the final score.

"We started very well again, scored early and that helps the team to calm down. As happened in the Azores, in the second half we were not so good, but we were always creating some chances, and we could have defined better in the last third", analyzed João Mário to Sport TV.

"We have to work on that, on the definition in the last third, but the team played a very complete game and the victory is entirely fair", claimed the Portuguese international, one of the most used players by the Liga Bwin leader (now with 47 points).

December/January prize winners awarded by Liga Portugal, Roger Schmidt (Vítor Oliveira Award – Coach of the Month), João Mário (Midfielder of the Monthand MVP of the Liga Bwin) and Grimaldo (Defender of the Month) received on Wednesday, March 1st, at Benfica Campus, the respective trophies. Roger Schmidt earned 30.37% of the Liga Bwin coaches' votes, João Mário collected 28.57% of the votes as Best Midfielder of the Month and 28.89% as MVP of the competition, and Grimaldo got 20.63% of the votes for Best Defender of the Month.
