Joshua Liam Wynder, 18-year-old center-back (2/05/2005), has been signed by Sport Lisboa e Benfica. Born in the United States of America, he was recruited from Louisville City FC, where he did all his formative years, and will join the Reds' B team.

Considered the 2022 USL Championship Young Player of the Year, Joshua Wynder did not hide his enthusiasm for wearing the Sacred Mantle. "I am very happy to sign for Benfica. It's a great club, with great fans. I needed a club that would help me develop, and Benfica is a club known for the work it does with young players and the way it helps players grow", mentioned the defender, in statements to BTV.

Since 2021, Joshua Wynder has made 45 appearances for Louisville City FC's first team, making his debut at the age of 16.

"My childhood dream is to play in the Champions League. It's a goal I want to fulfill", says Joshua Wynder, who has already visited Estádio da Luz and Benfica Campus. 

Pre-called up to the USA senior national team for the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup, Joshua Wynder represented his country at the U-20 World Cup in Argentina. The red new signing has made 11 international appearances for the U.S. youth teams, divided between the U-20 (6 matches) and U-19 (5 matches).
