Otamendi
Otamendi arrived at Benfica after the start of 2020/21, from English club Manchester City, and made his official debut on October 4, 2020, in a match against Farense, at Estádio da Luz, contributing to the 3-2 victory, in a match from matchday 3 of the National Championship.
This was the first of the 127 official matches carried out with an eagle on his chest so far, with a total of three goals and more than 11 300 minutes of play. In 2020/21, he made 38 appearances and scored one goal. In terms of playing time, the center-back was in action for 3349 minutes.
In 2021/22, Otamendi participated in 43 matches, totaling 3820 minutes, while in the year of the conquest of the 38th National Championship in Benfica's history, in 2022/23, as team captain, he reached 46 matches played and 4139 minutes of competition, in which he scored two goals.
Of the 127 games played by Otamendi with an eagle on his chest, 86 were for the National Championship, 26 in the Champions League (including qualifying rounds), six in the Europa League, seven in the Portuguese Cup, one in the League Cup and another in the Super Cup.
In the season that just ended, while playing for Benfica, Otamendi became World Champion for Argentina, in Qatar 2022. Na final da competição, o defensor de 35 anos alcançou a 100.ª internacionalização pelo seu país, ele que contabiliza atualmente 102 aparições pela alviceleste.
