I proudly congratulate the men's basketball team for the conquer of the 29th National Championship. What a fantastic journey!

In a season with a very demanding calendar, your resilience and team spirit will remain in our club’s History. Congratulations to all who contributed for this title, specially to the athletes, coaches, and staff.

This second consecutive championship belongs to all Benfiquistas and should be properly celebrated. A word of thanks to the fans who were at Pavilhão João Rocha today, but also to the ones who supported the team during the entire season. Congratulations!

Benfica fought until the end for a different outcome in the last 16 of the Club World Cup, but after extra time they fell to Chelsea (1-4), thus ending their journey in the first edition of the competition in the United States of America. In a game that was interrupted in the 86th minute due to the threat of a thunderstorm and ended almost five hours after the kick-off, Di María leveled the score at 90'+5' (1-1), taking the match into 30 minutes of extra time, during which time the result hung in the balance for the English at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
