Gonçalo Ramos in the Liga Bwin Team of the Season

Gonçalo Ramos was elected for the Liga Bwin Team of the Season. The Benfica striker was the 2nd best scorer, with 19 goals in the 30 games he played, and earned the preference of the coaches and captains of the competition. In all - counting António Silva, Otamendi, Grimaldo and João Mário - five players from the national champion are part of the best team in the competition.

The young striker was the offensive reference of Roger Schmidt's team from the 1st to the last round of the Liga Bwin 2022/23. In 2305 minutes (injury time not included), Gonçalo Ramos scored 19 goals, including five braces: Marítimo (5-0), Rio Ave (4-2), Gil Vicente (3-1), Sporting (2-2) and Famalicão (2-0). The other nine goals were scored against Casa Pia (0-1), Paços de Ferreira (3-2), Chaves (5-0), Santa Clara (0-3), Boavista (3-1), Vitória de Guimarães (5-1), Rio Ave (0-1), Portimonense (1-5) and Santa Clara (3-0).

In between important goals in Benfica's fight for the 38th national champion title, Gonçalo Ramos was also called up to represent Portugal in the 2022 World Cup, in Qatar. In the world's most important competition, he scored a hat-trick in the round of 16 against Switzerland (6-1).
