Marie-Yasmine Alidou is the latest addition to Benfica's women's football team. Coming from Famalicão, the 28-year-old attacking midfielder signed a contract valid until 2025.

In 2022/23, Benfica's new signing played 32 matches with the Minho's emblem, for which he won the Portuguese Cup, amassing 12 goals and four assists in all competitions.

Nurtured at the Citadins at the University of Quebec, Marie-Yasmine Alidou has also represented Austrian side Sturm Graz, Norwegian side Klepp, Spanish side Huelva, Swedish side Linköping, and French side Marseille on her way through European football. An international for Canada, the attacking midfielder is among the 25 pre-selected for the 2023 World Cup (the final list of 23 will be announced on July 9).

In her first words as a player in Benfica's three-time champion squad, Marie-Yasmine Alidou expressed the honor and pride she felt in reaching a "great club".

"It is a great honor to be here and to sign for this great club. I am very excited and eager to start working with this team and win titles. I also hope I can live up to the responsibility", said the Canadian international to BTV.
