Florentino: "We were able to implement the ideas of the coach"

Florentino was chosen to comment on Benfica's 0-2 win against Southampton at St. George's Park in England.

"The sensations were good, as were all the colleagues, who are prepared and doing their best to be at the best level. I see a very positive game, in which we have already managed to implement some of the ideas that the manager has given us in such a short time. You can see that the players are all focused on what we want," he said at the end of the training match. 

Asked about the new signings, Florentino praised Kökcü – n action in the training match - and looked ahead to the team's objectives in pre-season.

"He's a great player, with a lot of quality, and I think he'll add a lot to the team. All the players are different, players have come in and teams are always different. At Benfica there are always players with a lot of quality, that's what we want", he said.

"Above all, that we are at our best level and that we can go step by step to gain our best technical and physical shape, to get to the first official match prepared", he added.

Still on the same theme, the midfielder recalled "the times when he was a ball boy" and saw Di María play. "He's a great player, and it's great to have him in the team," he said.

Benfica has another friendly match on July 16, Sunday, at 3 pm (4 pm local time), against FC Basel, at the St. Jakob-Park Stadium, in Switzerland.
