Sport Lisboa e Benfica informs that it has reached an agreement with Corinthians, from Brazil, for the transfer, on loan, of the footballer Lucas Veríssimo.

The transfer contract formalized with the São Paulo club is valid for one year.

Lucas Veríssimo joined Benfica in January 2021, in the winter transfer window, and got into the team right away: he played in 17 games and scored two goals until the end of the 2020/21 season.

In his first full season with an eagle on his chest (2021/22), the Brazil international central defender made 18 appearances (and scored three goals) until November 7, 2021, when an injury kept him off the pitch until 2022/23, a season in which he made six appearances, becoming national champion.

The Portuguese internationals from Benfica's women's football team who represented Portugal in the 2025 European Championship are back. On Monday, July 28, Carole Costa, Catarina Amado, Lúcia Alves, Andreia Faria, Andreia Norton, Ana Borges, and Diana Silva underwent medical examinations—Diana Gomes had already done so—at Hospital da Luz. The physical tests, which are customary at the start of each preseason, took place at Benfica Campus on Tuesday, July 29.
