Cauê Vinicius dos Santos, 20-year-old striker (16/11/2002), was signed by Sport Lisboa e Benfica. The player arrives on loan from Lommel SK until the end of 2023/24 season and joins the B Team.

"I am very happy to arrive at Benfica, a great club. I am very excited about this challenge and I want to achieve great things here", said the youngster, to BTV.

U20 Brazilian international, Cauê dos Santos represented Lommel SK, from Belgium’s 2nd Division, since the beginning of 2022, having completed31 games and scored 10 goalslast season.

Before moving to Lommel, the striker defended the colors of Corinthians and in 2021, as U19/ U20, counted 14 matches and two goals for the first team of São Paulo.

Now, the Brazilian aims to "evolve in this great club" and adapt "well to the teammates and the coach’s ideas to score many goals, which will be important to help the team".

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
