Samuel Soares, Tomás Araújo and João Neves were starters in the Portugal Under-21 team's 3-0 win over Andorra in their opening match in Group G for qualification for the 2025 European Championship.

On loan from the Eagles to Famalicão, Henrique Araújo scored the 1-0 in the 32nd minute, in a trademark Benfica Campus play. With a great through pass, João Neves served Paulo Bernardo (on loan from Celtic), but his shot hit the bar. The team kept possession and, after a pass, the team captain scored the first goal of the afternoon.

Pedro Santos, a Benfica B team player, was brought on at half-time and provided the assist for the 3-0.

The team coached by Rui Jorge plays again on Tuesday, September 12, against Belarus. The clash in Armavir (Armenia) is scheduled for 2 pm.
