Rafael Luís renews contract until 2028

Rafael Filipe Gonçalves Soares Luís, 18-year-old midfielder (18/02/2005), has renewed his contract with SL Benfica until 2028.

"This contract renewal has added significance and a lot of responsibility for what I'm going to encounter from now on. I would like to thank Benfica for the trust they have placed in me. All I can do is work hard and give my all for Benfica every day", said the midfielder to BTV. 

A U-19 national champion (2021/22) when he was a U-17, he made his debut this season (2023/24) in the B team, where he has been integrated and for whom he has so far played five games in Liga 2. The midfielder also has a UEFA Youth League 2023/24 match to his name.

Last season (2022/23), Rafael Luís played 28 games and scored four goals (five games for the Under-23s and 23 games and four goals for the U-19s).

He is an international for Portugal's youth teams, with 21 caps between the Under-16 and Under-19 levels.

"Memorable moments? The achievements, the trophies, the moments spent with this great symbol on my chest, the victories above all, because this club thrives on victories. I hope to win many more," he claimed. 

"The future? There is always an eye on the first team, which is the top of the club, but the focus is on the present and it's about continuing to work to get there", he said.
