The Benfica's coach analysed the match against Inter Milan in the matchday 2 of the Champions League.

Roger Schmidt
DIFFERENT HALVES
"First of all, congratulations to Inter. The game was divided into different parts. In the first half, we had a good chance with Fredrik Aursnes, the best of the first half. Inter had no clear chances. It was a balanced game, we had a lot of possession and some good moments in the attack and transition. We lost a few moments to use our recoveries better, to make better decisions and take advantage of the spaces in ahead. We should have, 100% sure, had a penalty, when Barella fouled David Neres. I don’t understand why they didn't check it. In the second half it changed. When we play here, we have to expect some pressure, that they make many crosses, expect them to have many players inside the box and it is not easy to defend. We lost a lot of balls very easily and they used it for transitions. We weren’t able to create chances with the same quality. We failed to find the time to counter-attack and cause them trouble. The decisions were not perfect, there were times when we could have created better opportunities to finish. Sometimes we need some luck, but they scored. Trubin kept us in the game, we tried everything, but we have to accept that we lost. Their victory was deserved, because they had more chances than us. Still, I think we were unlucky, because in the first half, we could have scored the first goal and changed the history of the game."
OPEN QUALIFICATION
"What we usually do in six games, we have to do in four. We have to get points, score goals. The positive side is that we still have the qualification in our hands. The next games are very important, each of them is a final for us, and we start with the home game against Real Sociedad."
OFFENSIVE SUBSTITUTIONS
"We had players on the field who could have used moments to attack with the speed of David [Neres], Rafa and Ángel [Di María]. There was no need to change before. After the goal and the injury of Ángel [Di María], we needed a different player at the front, with Petar [Musa] and Arthur [Cabral]."
DEBUT OF JUAN BERNAT
"He was the option for today. It was time to give him a chance, because he trained well, is in shape, no longer has problems. It wasn’t easy, but with his experience in international matches, it was the right choice because David Jurásek comes from injury. Today, I opted for experience."
INJURIES OF BAH AND DI MARÍA
"Bah is injured, has some foot problems, felt too much pain. I'm not sure about Di Maria issue, but it seems to be a muscle injury."
