Gaitán: Return of the Heroes, episode 3

GAITÁN

Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Members selected 20 of the Club's players who stood out during the 20 years of the new Cathedral, celebrated on October 25. Gaitán was one of those chosen for The Champions Wall at Estádio da Luz. 

FIRST DAY

"I remember the first time I came to the stadium, but I didn't step on the grass because it was being changed. That was the first moment I remember the stadium, but afterward, when I was on the pitch playing, there were many other memories."

BEST MOMENT

"It might be the last game I played in the stadium, against Nacional. We were champions, it was the most memorable for me."

NOSTALGIA

"I love playing football, so I miss the dressing room, going into a game, the pre-match, living the day-to-day... Then being inside, playing with your teammates, being recognized by people, which is also very satisfying for a player. That's what I miss the most."

A STORY 

"It was a game against Sporting, when there had been a storm, and it was suspended. That day, before the game, Enzo Pérez and I were feeling a bit unwell to be able to compete, so the best thing that happened to us was that storm, so they suspended the game. It was moved to another day and then the game went well for us, of course."

THE CHAMPIONS WALL 

"It's an honor for all the players who come through this club, a recognition from Benfica's members and fans. Everywhere I've been, whenever I've met a Benfica fan, I've been recognized for the years I've spent here. I'm very grateful."

MEMORY

"It was a great goal [by Lima, against Sporting, on April 21, 2013], Lima's finishing is also very good. It's one of those plays that just happen; that one went very well. Even because I pass with my right foot, which isn't my best. But the best thing here is Lima's finish, because if he'd shot wide, you'd never hear about it. It's lovely to see this, especially against Sporting."
