Benfica's Samuel Soares and Tomás Araújo started for Portugal's Under-21 team in their 2-1 defeat against Greece on Monday, November 20, in a qualifying match for the 2025 European Championship.

In Tripoli, Greece, the two Benfica players were on the pitch the full 90 minutes and failed to avoid the first defeat for Portugal's Under-21s in the race for the tournament to be held in Slovakia. Despite the result, the Portuguese national team remain top of Group G with nine points from four games.

Rafael Rodrigues and Pedro Santos, players from the Club academy, were also used by coach Rui Jorge, as were Paulo Bernardo and Henrique Araújo, players on loan from Benfica to Celtic and Famalicão, respectively, until the end of the season.
