The draw for the last 16 of the EHF European Cup Women dictated that Benfica's women's handball team will face AESH Pylea Thessaloniki, from Greece, in the next phase of the competition.

The ceremony held on Tuesday morning, November 21, in Vienna, also decided that the Eagles will play the first leg at home on January 13 or 14, 2024.

Marina Teixeira, team manager of the women's team, read out the result of the draw and anticipated the double clash with the Greek side.

"There are no easy opponents at this stage of the competition, and if they don't agree to play the double-header in Portugal, the second match will be away, which is a disadvantage for us. In Greece, the atmosphere is always difficult to play in, but we really want to reach the quarter-finals, which would be a first for Benfica women's handball," Marina Teixeira told the club media.
