The draw held in Cidade do Futebol on Wednesday, November 29, dictated that Benfica will host SC Braga at Estádio da Luz, in the round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup. This Thursday, December 7, the Portuguese Football Federation announced that the match will be played at 8:45 pm, on January 10, 2024.

In this edition of the Portuguese Cup, SC Braga eliminated Rebordosa (0-2) and Portimonense (1-4) to reach the round of 16. This will be the 14th clash between eagles and "arsenalistas"in the competition.

Benfica is in the race for the 27th trophy in the Portuguese Cup.

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
