Benfica will face Toulouse in the Europa League play-off. The Eagles' opponents were announced on Monday, December 18, at the draw held in Nyon, Switzerland.

Benfica, like the other non-seeders, will play their first match as visitors, in a match scheduled for Thursday, February 15, 2024. The second leg will take place a week later, on the following Thursday, February 22, 2024.

Simão Sabrosa, the club's international relations director, has already reacted to the result of the draw.

THE OPPONENT

Toulouse reached the Europa League play-offs in 2nd place in Group E, with 11 points, behind Liverpool. In fact, the French club beat Jürgen Klopp's side 3-2 as visitors. It was one of three wins at this stage. Their only defeat in the competition came in their trip to the city of the Beatles, where they were beaten 5-1. They also drew with Belgian side Union St. Gilloise (1-1 away and 0-0 at home).

The team from the south of France has never officially faced Benfica and its highlight is the recent French Cup win in 2022/23, which earned them qualification for the European competitions this season.

Toulouse is currently in 15th place in the league with 14 points from 16 games, the result two wins, eight draws and six defeats.
