The central defender scored the second goal in Benfica's 4-1 win over Rio Ave on matchday 17 of the Liga Betclic.
14 January 2024, 21h53
António Silva
It was with praise for Rio Ave, "a team with a lot of personality", who "like to have the ball", that António Silva valued Benfica's victory. "The first half was difficult for us. We managed to score a goal and went in at half-time thinking we could turn the game around. The sending off [of Aderllan Santos, in the 58th minute], afterward, of course, ended up helping, making it easier, but it was a good game from the team, four goals [scored] and that's the most important thing," he emphasized.
ANTÓNIO SILVA'S GOAL
Regarding his goal, António Silva admitted that it "helped" in the victory, as did his new teammate's, who scored on his debut: "Marcos [Leonardo]'s [goal] also helped. That's why we're here, to help Benfica. The important thing is the win, the three points."
In addition to António Silva and Marcos Leonardo, Di Maria and João Mário also scored against Rio Ave (4-1), in what was the 7th consecutive win for the team coached by Roger Schmidt.
