Benfica-Eintracht Frankfurt

Women's football team

The European performance Benfica women's football team, which reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time, was reflected in the UEFA rankings, as the Reds moved up to 11th place.

With a gradual rise up the table, the Inspiradoras moved up a place from 12th. After matchday 5 of the Champions League group stage, in which the Eagles drew with Rosengard (2-2), the Old Continent's football governing body updated its ranking on Friday, January 26. The "Inspiradoras" have overtaken Atlético de Madrid and find themselves on the doorstep of the top 10 in a list led by Barcelona, their next rivals in the round 6 of Group A.

It should be noted that in 2020, still without a coefficient, Benfica was 94th. Since then, the rise has been remarkable, season after season. Participating in the Champions League for the fourth time in a row (this is their third consecutive appearance in the group stage), Benfica were 15th, on Otober 30, 2023, and then climbed to 13th place.

The Reds were in 12th place after their draw with Eintracht Frankfurt (1-1), in Germany, on matchday 4 of Group A, and now, in a historic achievement, the "Inspiradoras" are now in the highest place ever in the UEFA rankings.
