Benfica already know their possible opponents in the qualifying tournament for the group stage of the basketball Champions League, as well as the rivals they could meet in the competition.

In the draw held on Wednesday, June 26, in Mies, Switzerland, the three-time Portuguese champions learned who they will have to overcome to reach the Champions League regular stage. For the third season in a row, Norberto Alves' men are playing in the qualifying rounds, and in the semi-finals they will face the winner of the match between Rilski Sportist (Bulgaria) and BC Nokia (Finland).

If successful, Benfica will face the winner of the Sabah (Azerbaijan)/Norrkoping Dolphins (Sweden)-Fribourg Olympic (Switzerland) clash in the final to decide who progresses to the Champions League group stage.

If they get past the qualifying round, the Reds will be placed in Group G of the Basketball Champions League regular phase, alongside the Germans from Niners Chemnitz, the Italians from Bertram Derthona Tortona and the Spaniards from BAXI Manresa.

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
