STATEMENTS TO BTV

With the Sacred Mantle on since 2019, Lúcia Alves renewed contract with the Women's Football Team of Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

"It's being able to represent my club and that of my family", confessed the 26-year-old full-back, who, speaking to BTV's microphones, was "very happy" to be staying at Luz.

A four-time national champion and winner of four League Cups, three Super Cups and a Portuguese Cup with the club, the player revealed that the team "is very united and, from year to year, it becomes clearer", explaining that "that is the secret for the work to bear fruit".

After five seasons at Luz (with a short break in the middle, as she was loaned out to Valadares Gaia in the first half of the 2020/21 season), during which she counted 151 games, Lúcia Alves expressed satisfaction for her journey, but does not intend to stop here: "When I arrived here, I came with many goals and dreams. I have already managed to accomplish some, but I hope to continue accomplishing many others with this symbol on my chest".

"On the first day, I said that I wanted to be a reference point at the Club. I try to work towards that, I give everything for this shirt. Every time I go out on the pitch, I try to show the fans that this is my club, that it makes me feel happy and complete, so if I can help, I'll be here", added the full-back.

More specifically, the Portuguese international (22 caps) explained that "the goals are very clear" at Benfica, and include "winning everything in Portugal" – as happened last season – and "getting further and further in the Champions League", a competition in which, last year, the eagles reached the quarter-finals for the first time.

Lúcia Alves also addressed a message to the Benfica fans: "I hope you keep supporting us and enjoying our football, because we are Benfica and we will keep fighting for this shirt".
