Women's football
04 July 2024, 17h58
Francisca Nazareth
Kika, as she is better known in football, is currently the greatest emerging talent in Portugal, the result of the training and development she has undergone at our/her club.
With an emotional connection to Glorioso since the cradle, the young creative made her debut for the women's first team in 2018/19 – the season that marked the Inspiradoras' competitive start – at the age of 16; that same season she played for the U-17s and U-19s, where she celebrated the national title.
Discovered and projected at Benfica, Francisca Nazareth never stopped developing under the guidance of the club's coaching staff, achieving undisputed international status for Portugal. In six seasons, she wore the eagle's jersey in 128 official matches and scored 82 goals, some of which will go down in history. His sports CV includes the four Ligas BPI (Championships), four League Cups, two Super Cups, a Portuguese Cup and a Second Division Championship.
Having been part of the women's team with the greatest impact ever in Portuguese football - at a time when Sport Lisboa e Benfica is investing and catapulting performances in Europe to a level never seen before, with memorable clashes in the UWCL and the 11th place in the UEFA rankings – Kika will remain as one of the strongest and most cherished images for the fans.
The paths of the club and the virtuous young footballer now part ways, but there remains an umbilical bond that she has always praised and publicly demonstrated.
There is also the certainty of inevitable reencounters in soccer. On the pitch or in the stands, Francisca Nazareth will always be one of us.
Thank you, Kika!
