Álvaro Carreras, Benfica's left-back, has assessed Benfica's pre-season, aiming to continue their good performances in the 2024/25 season.

Speaking to club media, the left-back said that the start was “going very well”. “We've trained very well for the games, and I think that's shown. Now we have to keep trying to win every game and keep training for a good season,” said Álvaro
The defender came on at the start of the second half against the Dutch, in the 5-0 win at the Estádio da Luz on Sunday, July 28, and highlighted the way the whole team felt. “It went very well. We knew it was a very important trophy for the club and also for us, to keep our confidence up and have a good season,” he said.
Next up on the Reds' pre-season schedule is Fulham, on Friday, August 2, at 8 p.m. in the Estádio Algarve, and the No. 3 was confident. “Now we have a few days to prepare for the game like we did for the others. We're correcting some flaws that can always be corrected, but after a good game, we hope to be good again, now with Fulham,” he said about the final match of the pre-season.
"I feel more adapted, especially to the coach's ideas, and I'm looking forward to having a good season"

Representing the eagles since January 2024, Álvaro Carreras considered that he had the necessary settling-in period to be at the level he has been.
"Yes. In my opinion, it's more difficult to arrive in January than in the summer, but yes, I'm still adapting to the team, to the people and above all to the coach's ideas, which is the most important thing. Now I feel more adapted, especially to the coach's ideas, and we have to look forward to having a good season," he admitted.
"[Eusébio Cup reception] It's always good. It was a special reception, with all the fans there, and we're very happy with them"
The importance of the connection with the Benfiquistas was also highlighted by the defender. “There's a good relationship and the most important thing is to stay united. To feel the support so that we can win as many titles as possible,” he emphasized, amazed at the affection shown when the team arrived at the Estádio da Luz on the day of the Eusébio Cup, where the players left the bus and headed for the Cathedral next to the statue of the King in the Centenarium Square. "It's always good. It was a special reception, with all the fans there, and we're very happy with them," said the Spanish athlete.
Regarding expectations for the new season, he assured that the goals are set. “We have well-defined objectives, which are to fight for as many titles as possible and always play good football,” concluded Álvaro Carreras.
