At the age of 76, Sven-Göran Eriksson, one of the most iconic and recognized coaches in the history of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, passed away.

Recently, and considering his deteriorating health, Sport Lisboa e Benfica and the Benfiquistas around the world paid a just and deserved tribute to the Swedish coach.

During his five seasons at Benfica, he won three National Championships, one Portuguese Cup, one Super Cup and one Honor Cup. He was a finalist in two European Cups, one European Champions Cup and one UEFA Cup.

But far beyond the titles, Eriksson's mark on Portuguese football was that of a revolutionary, a coach ahead of his time. On a social level, he always stood out for his elegance, politeness and urbanity. A coach and man with Benfica's values.

Sven-Göran Eriksson, a name that unites several generations of Benfica fans who, together, will never allow him to be forgotten.

Sport Lisboa e Benfica extends its deepest condolences to the family.

On the Saturday of the derby at the Estádio da Luz, Jonas returned home once again and, before the starting whistle and at half-time of the Benfica-Sporting match on matchday 33 of the Liga Betclic, he was on the pitch, being greeted and cherished by the more than 63,000 fans in the stands. "Thank you all for your love and respect! Liga BPI | Cristina Prieto receives trophy for Best Player

Elected Best Player of the Liga BPI 2024/25 in the vote organized by the Players' Union, Cristina Prieto, Benfica's women's football team, received the trophy at Benfica Campus. Grateful for the distinction, the Spanish international told BTV about her “good season” and didn't forget the rest of the Reds' players. "It's an individual award and I couldn't have won it without my teammates. It was the team that made me win this award," said the goalscorer, who is in her first season at the club. "You never think the first year will be like this. I'd like to thank everyone who voted for me and the Benfiquistas. It's an award that shows that the season went well," said Cristina Prieto, an important element in winning the Fifth League Title in a row.
