Diogo Prioste, a Benfica B team player, was voted the Best Young Player of August/September in Liga 2 by the Players' Union.

The 20-year-old midfielder stood out in the first two months of the 2024/25 season, starting in all six of Benfica B's Liga 2 matches (five in total), against Leixões (D 2-1), Torreense (V 2-0), Vizela (V 1-0), Feirense (V 2-3), Oliveirense (E 2-2) and Paços de Ferreira (V 0-3). Diogo Prioste also contributed three goals during this period, scoring against Torreense, Vizela and Oliveirense.

With 12.29% of the votes, Diogo Prioste won the vote promoted by the organization, on a podium completely made up of Benfica players. João Rego (10.41%) and Hugo Félix (10.4%) came 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Benfica-Tirsense: extended match highlights (4-0)

In front of almost 50,000 spectators at the Estádio da Luz, Benfica confirmed their qualification for the 2024/2025 Portuguese Cup final on Wednesday night, April 23, by beating Tirsense 4-0 in the second leg of the semi-final (goals from António Silva, Bajrami, Belotti and Barreiro). In the first game, the Eagles had won 0-5. Thus, with a 9-0 aggregate in the semi-final, the Glorioso reached the decisive match of the Portuguese Cup for the 39th time. On their way to Jamor, the Reds overcame Pevidém (0-2), Estrela da Amadora (7-0), Farense (1-3), SC Braga (1-0) and, finally, Tirsense in a two-legged tie.

A moving tribute to Humberto Coelho

Having celebrated his 75th birthday on Sunday, April 20, Humberto Coelho received a heartfelt and well-deserved tribute on Wednesday, April 23, at the Estádio da Luz, during half-time of the Benfica-Tirsense (4-0) second leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals. Captain for many years, he wore the Manto Sagrado for “14 fantastic seasons” and, on the pitch, he gave a special thanks to the fans. "This is more than soul, it's an extraordinary mystique! Only at Benfica can you feel this recognition and this glory and memory of having played for the best club in the world," said the former central defender.
