Five minutes later, in the 76th minute, it was Pavlidis who put the ball in the back of the net (2-0), and he repeated the act in the 80th minute (3-0).

GOAL FROM PAVLIDIS (2-0)

As this is the Greek international's first season with Benfica, the match against Santa Clara also marked his debut in the League Cup, and his goal is clear. “It's a new trophy for me. I want to win it, and we have to win every game. We're a big club and all that matters here is winning,” said the number 14.

More than scoring goals, Pavlidis assured that “the most important thing is for the team to win”. "If we want to help the team, we have to do our jobs. I've always done my best to do that. I want to help the team and, of course, goals and assists are part of the game. If you do that, you feel better, but in the end it's all about helping the team," he explained.

Regarding Bruno Lage's complimentary statements about Pavlidis' performance, he confessed that “it's always nice to hear good words from the coach”, and left a guarantee. "I always do my best to help the team, and that's all I want to do. If the coach sees that and trusts me, just like he trusts all the other players in the team, that's the most important thing," he claimed.
