Arthur Cabral's brace put the icing on the cake as Benfica eliminated Estrela da Amadora from the Portuguese Cup.
24 November 2024, 02h31
Arthur Cabral
Let's think back. Benfica were putting in a great display against an I Liga opponent in the Portuguese Cup, scoring goals and creating chances for more. But, for one reason or another, Arthur Cabral couldn't find the net. Then, in the 86th minute, he scored with a bicycle kick! And in the 90th minute, he did it again!
After the 7-0 win, the Brazilian striker commented: "I'm very happy to have scored again today [Saturday, November 23], even more so since it was a brace. I know there could have been more, but... One step at a time, and I'm very happy."
The affection that everyone gave him was greatly appreciated by No. 9. "I'm very happy about that, to have felt the support of the fans today. After losing those chances, I know that sometimes things don't work out, but I'd like to say a big thank you to the fans for today, to the manager for giving me minutes, and to my teammates too, who got up there and said that the goal was going to come, and in the end it did."
Finally, still speaking to Sport TV, Arthur Cabral looked ahead to the next challenge, the Champions League tie with Monaco. "Another very important game, so today's game was sensational, against a difficult opponent - there are no easy opponents - and it gives us even more confidence to be able to play another great game on Wednesday."
