With an own goal and a goal from Di María, the Eagles clinched their 7th consecutive win in the National Championship.
In the flash interview area, the Spanish defender spoke of the “complicated games” that “there are in this league”, but highlighted the attitude of the Reds.
“We came here with the same focus as always, to pick up another three [points] and stay focused, game by game, on our goals,” he told Sport TV.
Arouca didn't hold back in defense, and sometimes tried to punish the Eagles. This didn't surprise Álvaro Carreras, as “teams usually try to play Benfica eye-to-eye”. The Reds player also pointed out the short rest period after the Monaco game [it took place on Wednesday, November 27], but nevertheless stressed that the “objective has been achieved”, and “now we have to keep going”.
In the words of the left-back, Benfica took to the field “with the same intensity as always” and made use of the “very large squad, with very talented players” that they have. “In the end, the important thing is the three points, that we're all together, that we'll achieve our goals,” he said.
Álvaro Carreras confessed that “confidence helps a lot” and assured that he is “giving everything” in his “home” because he feels “very well” treated, “both inside and outside the club”. “I'm very happy here. We'll keep working towards our goals. I've signed for many years, and I'm very happy,” he said.
