With the League Cup win, Benfica's captain now has a total of 26 trophies won, in a ranking in which Di María (36) is only beaten by Messi - and, with his recent success, he has also entered the world's historic top 5 for career titles, overtaking Cristiano Ronaldo.

Otamendi
The night of glory experienced with the Manto Sagrado in Leiria on Saturday, January 11, allowed the eagles' captain to isolate himself from compatriot Javier Mascherano, who ended his career with 25 trophies to his name.
With an eagle on his chest since 2020/21, Otamendi, a World Cup winner for Argentina, added the 2024/25 League Cup to the 2022/23 National Championship and the 2023 Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup, bringing his total to three trophies in the Benfica jersey.
DI MARÍA AT THE TOP
Benfica's top scorer (3 goals) in the League Cup recently won in the city of Lis, Di María increased the number of titles he has won representing the Glorioso to five (in five seasons - 2007-2010 and 2023-2025).
By contributing to another page of success for the club, the Eagles' number 11 entered the historic top five in the world for career trophies (36), overtaking Cristiano Ronaldo.
In addition, he reinforced his status in the history of Argentine footballers, as the 2nd most titled player ever, only surpassed by Lionel Messi.
For the Reds, Di María won 1 National Championship (2009/10), 3 League Cups (2008/09, 2009/10 and 2024/25) and 1 Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup (2023).
