In the first half of the 2024/25 Liga Betclic, the average attendance at the Estádio da Luz was 60,110 spectators per match, and the nine games played by Benfica in their fortress were the ones with the most fans in the entire competition.

Once again demonstrating the strength of the 12th man, the Benfica fans have turned out in droves for matches at the Cathedral, which has an occupancy rate of around 93.52%, the highest among the 18 teams competing in the national championship.

In total, more than half a million people (540,990) sat in the stands at the Eagles' ground for the games against Casa Pia, Estrela da Amadora, Santa Clara, Gil Vicente, Rio Ave, FC Porto, Vitória SC, Estoril and Braga.

The historic attendances at the New Cathedral, which celebrated its 21st anniversary on October 25, 2024, prompted the announcement of an increase in the capacity of the Estádio da Luz to 70,000 seats, with the President of Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Rui Costa, stressing the importance of giving more and more Benfiquistas the opportunity to feed the "Inferno da Luz".
