Benfica players celebrating
The Eagles come into this clash on the back of 9 wins (8 of them in a row) in the last 10 league matches (27 points), the best run of any team in the competition.
As for the Portistas, they've won four times and taken 16 points in a similar period, but they've managed to remain the only unbeaten team at home in the 2024/25 edition of the league going into the matchday 28.
In the first round between Benfica and FC Porto, which took place in round 14 of the Liga Betclic, the Eagles won 4-1. On November 10, 2024, goals from Álvaro Carreras, Di María (who scored a brace) and Nehuén Pérez (in his own net) demonstrated the Reds' superiority.
With 65 goals scored, Benfica have one of the best attacks in the league and 12 goals on target than their opponents. And if the percentage of possession (62.1% against 60%) is in FC Porto's favor, the eagles are more sharp and dangerous with the ball at their feet.
According to the data provided by the Sofascore platform, Bruno Lage's team has 17.1 shots per game (7.1 on target) compared to 14.8 (5.6 on goal) for Martín Anselmi's side, and the number of chances created per 90 minutes is also in favor of the Reds: 4.1 compared to 3.6.
Portista's Samu Aghehowa, with 65 attempts, is the top scorer for both teams, but the Eagles have Bruma (60), Di María (57) and Pavlidis (57) in the top 10 for this parameter.
Benfica have the advantage over the Dragons in the percentage of duels won per game (51.8%-48.1%) and in the number of balls recovered per game (54-46.2), with Otamendi leading the way in terms of interceptions (44) and Florentino in terms of tackles (42) between the two sides playing at the Estádio do Dragão.
Pavlidis is Benfica's top scorer in the Liga Betclic with 11 goals, while Samu Aghehowa is the player with the most goals for Porto: 15.
In assists, Benfica's standout player is Aktürkoğlu, with 8 decisive passes (the most recent on Wednesday in Luz, against Farense), the same record that Francisco Moura has with FC Porto.
